1- Make Repairs

Look inside the house, look for things like stained ceiling‘s, missing tiles, broken windows and doors, heavily scratched floors and other signs of neglect. Outside, look for broken or missing shingles, patio paves and anything around the driveway. If you have a deck, check for cracks in the floor boards and loose railings. Make a list of everything you see and then decide which things you want to tackle.


2- Declutter

It is imperative that your home looks liveable. Potential buyers may not be able to see past your clutter. Make decisions now and your house will sell faster and your move will be easier.


3- Clean

This may be the most important step you take towards getting your home ready to sell. For a home to live up to the move-in condition it has to be clean. The whole house that’s to be extremely clean, from walls washrooms, windows kitchen etc. etc.


4- Upgrade Lighting

If your lamps and other light fixtures are outdated, consider replacing them with modern ones. Buyers don’t want to feel like they’re taking a step back in time with outdated fixtures. This is an easy fix that will help sell your home.


5- Update Paint

Since not everyone has the same colour preferences, apply fresh coats of neutral coloured paint on the walls.


6- Get a home inspection

Before trying to sell your home, hire a home inspector. Buyers usually have the home inspected, have an inspection done prior to putting the home on the market. This will make you aware of any potential issues that may come up during the sale. This will also demonstrate to the buyer that you have maintained your home


7- Roof repairs

If your roof needs serious work, be prepared that buyers will negotiate on the repairs


8- Update Hardware

Are the knobs or handles on your kitchen cup boards or drawers outdated? Update them, It’s a cheap upgrade that will refresh your house and help you sell it.


9- Eliminate Pet Smells

Every once in a while pets get into something they shouldn’t and these nasty smells can indicate to the buyers you’re not clean. Have your home smelling nice as soon as the buyer walks in to your home to create a welcoming feeling.


10- Landscaping

Create curb appeal is one thing but try extending that idea to landscaping too. Well manicured landscaping will impress Buyers
